Alumni mentors will be provided with the name, biographical summary and contact details of their student the summer before the student enrolls at Cornell. You will be asked to contact and meet with your student before school begins. We'll send you the book selected for the new student reading project, which we suggest you read together with the entering class. This will provide a common ground to begin academic dialogue with your student.
We encourage you to meet in person with your student at least once a semester during the student's years at Cornell, in addition to whatever e-mail correspondence, phone calls, and get-togethers during Cornell breaks that you both agree upon. We recommend that you connect with your student a minimum of one to two times a month. You and your student may also consider options such as job shadowing, accompaniment to professional events, or similar activities.
